Seating of parties is always at the discretion of the acting floor manager. Specific tables are never reserved. A number of conditions factor into the decision as to where parties are seated. Most important among these are promptness and having one's complete group together. The attached diagram is included to give you an idea of the layout and help you to understand that we are a small place and cannot accommodate enormous groups of people (no, we are not being standoffish).
In the diagram below, the tables known as "B0" and "B00" constitute what we affectionately refer to as the "Vegas Lounge". These tables can be reconfigured to accommodate a group as large as 15 people. Set off in a little alcove and decorated in black velvet with photos of Las Vegas icons, it is our little slice of the Strip right here in the West Village. This is our most requested table and we are happy to note your request in the reservation book. It is usually reserved for foreign dignitaries and heads of state.
If there is a group of more than 15 people, we would most likely have to seat them at two adjoining tables. The tables in the diagram marked "B1", "B2" and "B3" can each be extended to hold as many as 9 to 12 people. We call this set-up the "Full Carnegie Deli" setup, for obvious reasons. Because these tables all feature Elvis paraphernalia and because they are centrally located in the, er, center of the restaurant, it is our custom to only seat very attractive people here.
The table marked "B5" is the justly famous Ernest Borgnine Booth. It is the only one like it in the whole world (go ahead, try to find another one like it). Priority seating for Mr. Borgnine, his wife Tova, or any of his children or children's children is observed at all times. Diners who sit here should be ready to vacate immediately in the event of a royal visit (always unannounced).
These few tables in our "B" section are really all that we have available to accommodate large groups. This is why we accept so few reservations. The tables in the "A" section can only hold a maximum of 6 people each. The table marked "AU" is what is known as our "Ringside" table. Diners seated here are right in the front row for the midget bean wrestling and will probably get splattered (fair warning).
During seasonably warm weather, we also have seating available in our sidewalk café. These tables are never reserved however.
For private and semi-private parties, the "B" section can be reserved for a group as large as 45 people. In this instance, the bar area and the "A" section would remain open to the public. This is the most economical and reasonable option for larger groups.
Really big groups (more than 45 people) would require some degree of restaurant closure and that could get pretty darned expensive. Certain minimum guarantees come into play (they vary widely depending on the day of the week, the time of day and the season of the year). But, if you simply must do it, we will be happy to discuss it with you.
